Chef Luis Martinez

Nicaro Restaurant FrontSilver Spring, Maryland is a wonderful Town. It is Full of Abundant Life, and you can tell People who live here, are proud of it.Just go on the web, and check out the opinions of so many folks who even with more than One Full Time job still make time to go out in their neighborhood, and tell other neighbors where are the best places to eat, drink, get a Lemon-Espresso, a Shrimp-Rice-Spinach Roll with Mantecado Aioli, or simply where to go for a good time at any time of the day? This Neighborhood, when still great and full; has been edified by yet one more element that intends to continue, and build on greatness to come.

I am talking about the fortuitous Change of the Guard at Nicaro’s Restaurant. Fortuitous not because Chef Matamoros wasn’t a Great Chef, but only because another Great Chef has taken control of this wonderful location. Now we will have two unique places to savor Fusion Food, Chef Martinez at Nicaro’s, and Chef Matamoros at his New place. Chef Martinez is not a stranger to Maryland in the absolute; He was the Executive Chef at Phynea’s in Rockville, so long ago, Where Folks use to line up outside the door for lunch to be the first on his Super Salad Bar, and his Irresistible Prime Rib, He was the Chef of Holihans’s in Bethesda for a number of years, He was the Executive Kitchen Manager at The Cheesecake factory in White Flint, Chevy Chase, Baltimore, and then on several other Cheesecakes in California. He formed The Redrock Canyon Grill with his Partners, shaped the Menu, designed their kitchens in Centerville VA, Gaithersburg, and of course Silver Spring, In the past years Chef Martinez has co-opened Nellie’s Sports Bar in DC, the beloved Cubano’s on Fiddler Lane, Saffron’s in Prince Frederick, Laredo’s Café in London, He was the Executive Chef for The McCormick’s & Schmick’s Grill in Baltimore, where he won Award after Award for his Passion for Seafood. Chef Martinez currently owns The Potomac Grill in Rockville, and now with his best friend, and General Manager Anthony Talavera has come back to Silver Spring to enhance our palates with his Love for Fusing Foods from all over the World One could say those Big Corporate Restaurants have, Finally a real Fight in their hands, for these two Chefs are in a Great Neighborhood, mean Business, have the Know how, and the Audience is set, and ready to see what they are going to dish out.

Stay tuned with Fork, Knife & Spoon at the ready, this is going to be awesome. Chef Matamoros has a newer restaurant, yet Chef Martinez has years of experience, in both front, and back of the house, Chef Matamoros partner also was a Sous Chef of Chef Martinez, so all in all good luck to all. We will enjoy the Cooking from both places, and Silver Spring will get the Best of both for sure.
